DESCRIPTION:
This externship will allow students to develop and implement a worshipful, educational, or advocative justice initiative in an experiential learning environment that offers real-world insight into theoretical topics learned in the graduate certificate.
SIGNIFICANCE FOR LIFE AND MINISTRY:
Students will contemplate, through the first-hand experience, what God’s justice looks like in a community environment or occupational setting.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Through participation in this externship, students will:
• Demonstrate the capacity to strategically engage their strengths to proclaim and actualize Jesus’s kingdom mission in a justice-seeking community.
• Gain clarity regarding the justice-promoting role God called them to fulfill.
PREREQUISITES: EH 3205, MF 4333, MF 4335
RELATIONSHIP TO CURRICULUM:
This course meets a core curriculum requirement for the Masters of Christian Leadership (MCL), the Graduate Certificate in Leadership Studies, congregation and public life tracks, and the Graduate Certificate in Justice Formation.
COURSE FORMAT:
We will conduct this semester-long externship in concert with community partners. Students and partners determine meeting days and times throughout the semester.
